How as believers, do we really grow, progress stronger in the Spirit? There are many people that have accepted Christ, but not what Christ has said about them. Therefore, they don't know who they really are spiritually, that is why they are forever asking, what is it that God wants me to do? Who am I really in Christ?
In the natural, we first learned who we were, by the name they called us, "Michael, mama's little baby boy." As the years went on, we then learned what we were capable of doing and what was capable of happening to us in this life. Our whole concept, thoughts and identity of who and what we thought we were, was centered around: our family relationships, our environment and our human proclivities aka what the soul and the body desired.
But now, align, identify yourself by the Word of God and His Holy Spirit
The Word of God tells us, "If any man be in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away, behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who has reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ and has given unto us the ministry of reconciliation.
" 2 Corinthians 5:17 18
It is through this reconciliation, this transformation, that we are changed, progress from the old man to the new creation. We no longer will know ourselves as who our families, our environment, the world, our flesh, our guilt and shame say we are.
THROUGH THE WORD
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples; indeed, John 8:31
Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. John 15:3
Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. John 17:17
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Ps. 119:105
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT
But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify (teach you) of me (Christ): John 15:26
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he
shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. John 16:13
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8
And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. Romans 5:5
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:26-27
That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; Ephesians 3:16
This is who you are now in Christ.
This is the new Creation.
This is what you are to say about yourself now.
"And all things are of God", You have a new relationship with God, now!
A separate, dead to sin relationship, now! Romans 6
This is how we are to identify ourselves now. Get to know who you are in the Spirit and stop identifying yourselves according to who you were, what others said, what your past revealed, what your flesh desired, it's over!
