“Education make a people easy to lead, but difficult to drive: easy to govern, but impossible to enslave. .”  - Peter Brougham

To restore the hope of the young people in Picmy, UCAH is building a K-6 school facility in Picmy which is providing a quality education that will make them an asset to their country and the global world. We are happy to say that the project is over 70% finished.

EDUCATION

WATER

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) as much as 60 percent of the population do not have access to clean water. In particular, Picmy villagers walk about an hour every day to collect contaminated water from a local public well for their basic need.

One of our major community development goal is to build a large public water system (well) in Picmy to  provide water for the general community.  In the meantime, we have have built a cistern to alleviate the school and the community when it comes to having access to water along with the one that's already there.

“When individuals and communities do not govern self, they risk being ruled by external forces that care less about the well-being of the village.”  -Robert F. Kennedy.

Community development such as a soccer team to represent the village in tournaments and local and national competitions to help them build confidence, teamwork and after school programs for all children to provide extra support outside of the classroom.

Economic  Development - “They’re [Haitians] sick and tired of non-governmental organizations coming to give them handouts, a little rice here, a little peas here. They need to leave the tent cities and go home. They need work. They need jobs.” -Jean-Yves Jason (Port-au-Prince Mayor).

UCAH has come to Picmy not only with the mind and the actions to provide food and clothing but we have:

  • Hired staff for the school and a maintenance personnel

  • Hired construction workers

  • Hired drivers for for transportation

  • Our presence has stimulated the economy in the area

Having a Mobile Medical Unit is one of the services we would like to provide to the community on a constant basis which will provide jobs for nurses and doctors and assistants.

Small business development—Our goal is to form profitable subsidies, with all profits to be reinvested into employees and local communities.
